National ICT Innovation HubFrom a community project to a platform
MakerX Labs began as the University Engineering Innovation Bootcamp, a grant-funded project under the Royal Academy of Engineering's Leaders in Innovation Fellowship (LIF), supporting students and recent graduates from engineering colleges across five universities to build ventures that solve real problems in their own communities. The pilot showed what's possible when young engineers are mentored and resourced to build, not just trained to job-hunt, and that result became the foundation for MakerX Labs: a platform that takes the model beyond one cohort and one grant to reach as many young founders across the continent as possible, inspiring them, mentoring them, and helping them build ventures instead of chasing jobs that don't exist.
